We've been considering that the element that should be considered in creating an ideal group home for adults with Autism (over age 21) should be a transitional guidance capability, within the group home. In other words, parents would feel more at ease if they knew that the group home into which their adult child with Autism was entering had the capability of imparting Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to the participants- the chances of success and safety would be much greater. This concern is certainly present in our own household, where our son Jonathan cannot fully see to his own needs without our help.
